June 29th 2007 Busy Days and Creatures in My Backyard comes to an end at Glór We had our final class in our "Adventures" camps for newborns - 18 months and 18 months - 3 years today. Two really great classes. I only hope everyone else enjoyed them as much as I did! Hope to see you all again soon! June 28th 2007 Ireland's first Maestro! Finola Ryan has been named a ‘Maestro’ by Kindermusik International, the world’s leading music and movement program. Finola teaches Kindermusik in Glór and Maoin Cheoil an Chláir, from newborn children up to seven years old. “The Kindermusik Maestro has a mission: helping children become better learners and helping parents understand how to help them reach their highest potential,” said Michael Dougherty, CEO at Kindermusik International. Finola is one of 5,000 licensed educators in the world who use Kindermusik’s music and movement curricula. She began providing Kindermusik at Maoin Cheoil in 2006. Today Finola teaches the learning program to over 60 families and also works for the Mid Western Health Board In the last year, Finola has extended her program in Glór to cater for “Kindermusik Village” classes, which are for newborns to 18 months and “Kindermusik Our Time” which is for children aged 18 months to 3 years, as well as Saturday morning “Kindermusik Imagine That” for 3-5s and “Young Child” classes 5-7. Finola’s “Young Child” recently performed at Glór. “I’m both surprised and thrilled to receive the Maestro Award” said Finola, a graduate of music in UCC. “Kindermusik is a unique learning experience. The many songs and activities in Kindermusik class enhance a child’s total development by strengthening physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills at a very early age,” Finola explains. “Kindermusik believes a child’s most important teacher is his or her parent. That’s why we are one of the very few programs that include parents in activities with their children” said Finola. June 8th 2007 Kindermusik for the Young Child debut performance at Glór My Young Child class had their first public outing at Glór last night. They were really brilliant, and entertained the audience with their rendition of Lucy Locket, Mouse, Mousie, Ding-dong and Train is a-comin'!
